An Intrinsic Love for The Game

Ensuring that every child who wanted to play soccer in Dover had an opportunity to do so

The DSA competitive teams have continued to grow but we continue to place the players first.

DSA has established coaching plans so that the approach and style of play is consistent for all age groups. The primary focus of the DSA competitive teams is not on winning but on learning, growth, and development. We hope to see you on the soccer fields.

What are the Dover Soccer Association (DSA)?
The DSA has two different soccer programs. We have competitive teams that play against other local communities. We also have a recreational soccer program. The competitve teams (U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, and in the spring we may have U14) play in the Ohio Travel Soccer League (OHTSL) or the Plain Township Soccer League at Diamond Soccer Complex with other soccer teams from the surrounding counties. All practices and about half of our games are at Deeds Field or the old Krantz Strawberry Patch, Becker Soccer Fields, in Dover. About 4 times per season, the teams will have to travel to play the other teams in the league. The driving time for away games is usually between 30-60 minutes. 3rd, 4th, 5th, & 6th graders can play on our competitive teams. We have no overnight trips. In the spring some 7th graders may be able to play.

The Wendy’s Little Kickers Soccer Program

Kindergarteners and 1st graders play in our Little Kicker soccer program. 2nd – 6th graders play in our select soccer league. Experienced first graders can play Select Soccer, too.

Who should try out for DSA competitive teams?
The competitive teams are an opportunity for any child who would like to improve their individual soccer skills and improve as a team player. We are not looking only for “the best” players but rather those players who are motivated and interested in working to improve.

Our main goal is to make the game of soccer fun. Secondly, we want to teach the fundamentals of the game, team dynamics, and individual skills. If we are able to do that than winning often is a by-product of that.

What are the time commitments for the competitive teams?
Normally we have two practices per week. In the fall, we expect practices and games to be the priority for the player. In the spring, we have many players who are playing baseball or softball also. We ask that they make as many practices as they can and that their games be a priority. Fall practices will begin in early August.

Games usually start by mid-August. The end of the season tournament is usually the 2nd or 3rd weekend in October

Spring Soccer – Practices usually start in mid-March. Games usually begin in early April. The end of the season tournament is usually in early June.

Registration fee: $85

Uniform Cost:   $60 – The DSA uses the same uniforms every year, so you do not have to buy a new uniform. You may want to order the uniform a little larger to save money over the years.

Little Kickers Registration and Uniform Fee – $45 Total – All players will receive a DSA t-shirt with number and red socks. Players must wear their own shorts.

Fall Soccer will start about a week or two weeks prior to school starting. The last game is usually the first Saturday in October.
